Mistakes remaining:

Connections is a daily word game that is all about finding common connections between the words. In the process, you need to form four groups of four words each. You can make a maximum of four mistakes. Therefore, carefully consider which four words fit into a category before you select and submit them. Every day at midnight a new game starts.

How to Play Connections

1. Reading words

The first step is to carefully read and understand the words provided in the Connections word game. Take the time to understand each word and think about how it can be related to other words. If necessary, you can use Google or other resources to clarify the meaning of the words.

2. Look for similarities

After reading and understanding the words, the next step is to find the common topics (categories) that connect the words. Ask yourself questions like: Do the words belong to the same group? Are they similar in any way? Do they have a connection to a specific topic or idea? The trick is to find relationships or similarities between the words in order to determine the common category.

3. Select and submit common words

Once you have identified the common theme and found the four words that go with it, these words must be selected. Just click on the four words you want to select and then click on the “Submit” button.

Five tips for playing Connections successfully

1. Use the attempts as wisely as possible

Unlike Wordle, which offers six attempts, Connections only gives you four attempts. Therefore, treat these four attempts with the utmost care. Take enough time to sort the words and press the submit button only when it feels right. Connections should therefore be played wisely and not in a hurry.

2. Using the shuffling function to help

The initial word placement is intentionally designed to be misleading. The game has a convenient shuffling function that rearranges all the words. This can help refresh your memory and see connections that you may have overlooked before. Therefore, use the shuffling function frequently to get a new perspective on the words.

3. Pay attention to ambiguous words

The Connections game gains its special charm by the fact that some words can belong to more than one category. For example, “seal” and “whale” might seem to belong together, but “seal” could also be a term for a device used to close something securely. Therefore, take the time to think about the exact connection of these words. Take a look at the other words and see if that helps before clicking on “Submit”.

4. Use words with several possible categories later

If a word could fit into two possible categories, then it should be used only after you have already solved at least one complete category, in order to avoid confusion and increase the likelihood that the remaining categories can be correctly attributed.

5. Note in case of a missing word

If a guess contains three correct and one wrong word, the game will tell you that only one word is missing to solve the category. Therefore, carefully check which word is still incorrect and needs to be replaced with the correct one.
